According to data from 2024, Bangladesh ranked second in the world for air pollution. Within Asia, the country tops the list. Among global cities, Dhaka ranks third in terms of pollution. Every day, various cities in Bangladesh appear at the top of pollution charts. This situation is a major concern for the population; experts estimate that this air pollution has reduced the average life expectancy in the country by approximately 7 years.
To understand the main causes of air pollution, particularly in Dhaka and Chittagong, and to explore possible solutions, the research team of One Click Foundation is conducting a comparative study with Japan, Canada, India, and Pakistan. This research aims to provide crucial evidence and recommendations for improving air quality in Bangladeshi cities.
